Every set of plans are not the same. You have quite a few options here but one of the difficulties is the inability to see your home constructed before you build it. If you are purchasing from a builder who has a model up you have a distinct advantage. But when you do not have that opportunity, the ability to visualize can be much different than the reality of your home once it is completed. Having years of experience looking at houses and knowing the things to expect is a real plus. One of your biggest goals should be to find an architect or a designer who has the ability to listen to you, and then put your ideas into a set of working plans which will build your dream home for you. This is not always the case. One of the problems with some of the books you will purchase with house plans already in them is there lack of perspective in terms of room sizes. Unless you are somewhat experienced in the visual aspect of architectural plans the final outcome of the house can end up being very disappointing. Lets suppose you do not plan the building of your new house extensively. Then you go out and find a builder and hand him/her a set of plans. You tell the builder you want this house built. Or you are building the house yourself. And then you build it. Well, you better have excellent concepts of what you are doing. If you do not have excellent concepts then find someone who does. people who have the desire to pick everything
as we build their house. This can be a very exciting time in your lives if you
watch what you are doing. Fortunately for the contractors, business is good.
But building being this good does cause some serious headaches for home owners and
builders alike. There are not a lot of qualified contractor's and trade
personnel available. The good one's are booked up several weeks in advance and in
some cases, months in advance. Take heed to what you read in the newspaper's and
listen to on the radio and television. Some of the
terrible stories are true. Its an excellent time to build, you just need to know what you are doing. If you don't know, then find out what you can. This building site is intended to help you figure things out. In most cases builder's are well worth their money. Just look around and find one you feel comfortable with.
