Cabinets & Counter Tops
If you plan your kitchen correctly you can have some fun with it. Just because a plan has a kitchen layout on it does not mean the customer will like the layout once it is installed. Be careful here. We normally give a $20,000 to $25,000 allowance for cabinets on our homes that are over 3500 sq. ft. Granite counter tops are by far the most popular today. Five or six years ago Corian took the market by storm but Corian seems to have slowed down quite a bit in popularity. The first picture at the top left is granite. That particular kitchen along with the butler pantry cost $8500 dollars. Be careful with granite. Home depot is selling a granite counter top which is 3/4 of an inch. The granite we install is 1 1/4 " in thickness. Quite a difference in quality. The second picture from the left is Corian. Click on the pictures if you want and get a bigger view. The Formica brand and Wilson Art are still a great way to go if you want to save money. You can still get them manufactured and installed for under $40 a lineal foot.
