Plumbing Labor

Many plumbers won't let you separate the materials from them.  They have a wholesale house they go to and they purchase the materials for you.

We have a plumbing company who just charges us labor and then we go and purchase the materials separate. Our plumber provides all of the copper pipes and all of the PVC and the plastic container for the sump pump.  In Michigan you have to have a sump pump in your basement even if your home is on a plateau.

There is a lot of thinking in the plumbing area.  If you have a septic field you have to price out the cost if its not  gravity fed.  Gravity fed means it naturally goes down hill.  If you need a pump up system then you have to have an engineer design a system for you.  The cost  for the engineer generally runs around $1200.  There are additional costs in this system because you need a pump in the tanks and you more often than not need 3 tanks instead of 2.

You will want to have the plumber begin his finish work as soon as the counter tops are in and the bathes have the mud on the floors.  Sometimes it’s nice to spend a little extra money on your bath fixtures and faucets as you can really spruce up the looks of your entire home for just a few dollars more.

Finding the right plumber can really be a task sometimes.  I bet through the years we went through 5 plumbing company's before we found the one we really enjoyed working with.  Don't know if it was something unique for our company or not.  Long story short find a plumber you are comfortable with.
